FREE TUTORIAL ✦ NO SEWING

Your scrap bin has a bouquet in it

Roll felt spirals into roses, wire them into stems, and wrap the whole thing in a paper napkin like it came from a tiny florist. No sewing required, just a hot glue gun, wire, and the felt scraps you already have.

What you’ll need

  • Red or pink felt (scraps are perfect)
  • Green felt (scraps again)
  • Floral stem wire or thin craft wire
  • Hot glue gun + glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Cutting mat (optional)
  • Paper napkin or kraft/burlap wrapper
  • Ribbon, twine, or decorative thread

WATCH THE TECHNIQUE

Making the bouquet

1Prep the wire

Cut floral wire into 6–8 inch stem lengths. Bend a tiny flat loop at the top of each — that loop is the anchor your rose will glue onto.

2Cut felt into rough squares

Cut red or pink felt into squares roughly 2×2 inches — one per rose. Cut green felt into slightly smaller squares for the sepals. Don’t chase precision here: slightly uneven pieces actually make the finished roses look more organic.

3Trim squares into circles

Round each square into a rough circle. A wobbly circle will produce a perfectly beautiful rose.

4Cut and roll the roses

Cut a continuous spiral from the outer edge toward the center, leaving a small tab at the center. Roll the spiral from the outer edge inward, then secure the bottom with hot glue to the center tab.

5Prep the sepal and assemble

Cut spiky edges around a green circle to mimic a sepal, snip a line to its center, and thread it onto the wire just below the loop. Apply hot glue to the loop and press the rose base onto it, holding for 10–15 seconds.

6Bundle, wrap, and tie

Repeat steps 2–5 until you have 3–6 roses. Arrange the stems at staggered heights and tie them together with thread or twine. Wrap with a paper napkin (trim off any branding), fold it off-center for that florist look, and secure with ribbon or twine in a knot or bow.
