MEET THE STUDIO ✦ CO-FOUNDER & CREATIVE LEAD

Meet Greta

Greta, co-founder of Darilyn Designs

About Greta

My mom and aunts are all artists. Between them, I got exposed to quilting, beading, stained glass, painting — you name it. Which sounds amazing, and honestly it was, but it also meant I could never quite settle on just one craft. Maybe too inspiring?

Sewing is probably the closest thing I have to a “main” medium, but what I actually love is picking up new skills and figuring out how they talk to each other. Stained glass drafting and sewing patterns, for example, have more in common than you’d expect — once you see it, you can’t unsee it. That cross-craft instinct is pretty much the whole point of Darilyn Designs.

As for the studio name: Darilyn is my middle name. As a kid I decided it would be my pen name once I became a famous fantasy author. My career took a different route, but the idea of putting my middle name on my creative work stuck.

David and I are based in Colorado, and have built the studio around one idea: taking creative skills to the next level, together. No gatekeeping.

CURRENT FOCUS

We recently got a Silhouette Cameo MK-II Pro for kit creation, and I am deep in the learning curve. One batch of stickers in and I already love what it can do — the software is just a lot more involved than Cricut. Worth it, but I’m definitely still figuring it out.
